Chivalry is the combination of qualities expected of an ideal knight, especially courage, honor, courtesy, justice, and a readiness to help the weak. It is a moral code from Medieval Europe and deals with moral and social codes. It is not about opening doors for women. This project was to pick a word and create a type system for it. Unlike lettering, this word would have to work within a system. I picked the word Chivalry for my interest in the time period and because I am a nerd that was sorted in Gryffindor on Pottermore. After creating the type system, I was tasked with pairing the word to an appropriate image. I decided to create this heraldry shield that shows the tenants of the code. The lion symbolizes valor, the stag is for temperance, the unicorn for truth and the dragon is sagacity.
