Tres Leches

Tres leches is a band based in Seattle. They describe themselves as “basement punk,” and their name comes from a type of sponge cake. At the time I created this posted for them there were three members, who all played the same instruments and performed vocals. Often during performances they would astonish the crowd by stopping mid-performance and changing places on stage. This is the kind of thing I wanted to embody within the design. The figure is holding an umbrella to call back to Seattle and has three of each limb. The body expresses the way each band member is a limb of the band itself. It was also inspired by a picture of the three band mates huddling over a bright purple umbrella. What would be a typical sexy silhouette is made strange and unnerving by the additional limbs and the absence of her head, making this a parody of earlier, similar styles.
